The challenge of creating an intimate feel in large public spaces — hotel lobbies chief among them — can be daunting. Often the result is formulaic, static and stale.
The design team at W South Beach should be lauded for its successful application of materials, textures and scales — all of which subtly offset the disproportionate, hall-like room. The calm palette is coupled with custom applications such as rough-sawn edges on the stone columns, and the geometric bronze screens marching down the hall delineate a sense of place.
Our goal with every GRADE project is to customize our work to reflect a bold, understated richness through robust materials, manipulating these elements so they are rendered as three-dimensionally as possibly. Anyone can apply wallpaper to a surface, stain wood or purchase furniture. What we specialize in is personalizing each component for our client while staying true to our design aesthetic.
